People in Lowestoft, Beccles, Carlton Colville, Kessingland and the villages must be able to get good treatment when they need it. The Conservatives have provided the funding to rebuild the James Paget Hospital and exciting plans have been prepared. If re-elected Peter will work to ensure that the hospital provides the services that the local community need and that it is built on time.
He will also work to improve access to GPs and to mental health services and he will continue his campaigns to improve NHS dentistry and community pharmacies.
The Government's NHS Dental Recovery Plan is a welcome first step, but longer term funding is required and the NHS Dentistry Contract must be replaced. There needs to be a greater focus on recruiting and retaining dentistry staff, with local training opportunities being provided, and in the longer term a university dental school must be set up in the region. There is need for long term core funding settlement and a focus on recruitment and training. Peter will campaign for reform so as to remove delays for prescriptions.
